In recent years, people pay more and more attention on noise pollution when there are more and more cars in city. Europe and other developed countries formulate noise regulations, such as EU-labeling, to limit the noise level of tire. Tires will not be allowed sold on the EU market if they cannot reach regulatory requirements. It's an urgent research task to develop low-noise tire technology for the domestic tire manufacturers.Based on the previous work, this research pay attention on air-pumping noise and pitch noise of tire pattern. A series detailed tire indoor noise experiments are designed to study the process of air-pumping noise.A tire tread pattern air-pumping noise prediction semi-empirical model is proposed according to the study of law and audible noise. The pattern parameters such as the transverse groove width, angle, direction, and connectivity to vertical groove are considered in this model. The semi-empirical model also considers the horn effect and the contact patch shape. The simulated results was compared to the test result. The comparison results demonstrate that the semi-empirical model is effectiveness and practicality.Based on the semi-empirical model, this paper proposes a block shift optimization method and mold shift optimization to assist tread developing works.Pattern is composed by pitches. Pitch noise is an important part of the tire noise. The most directly and effective method to reduce tire noise is changing the pitch arrangement. It's really a difficult problem to find the pitch arrangement who has the low noise performance from so much arrangements.In this paper, the Fourier transform and convolution integral method are used to assess the noise performance of the pitch arrangement. A low noise pitch arrangement could be found with the application of evolutionary algorithm. Finally, the optimization results are compared with experimental results.The semi-empirical model, pattern optimization method, and pitch arrangement optimization methods will assist engineers developing low noise tires.
