In recent years, with the rapid development of digital power technology and the acceleration of smart grid construction, power grid security and stability operation of the power automation equipment, especially the time synchronization performance put forward new requirements. In order to realize the synchronous sampling of power system, the line fault location, fault recording, fault analysis and the time consistency of the accident reversal, and so on. To the power system to provide accurate, the same time source, it is necessary to configure multifunctional network clock source in power plant, substation, control center and dispatching center, and the clock source can synchronization with IRIG-B code and pulse and network in a variety of ways, the user can according to the actual need to choose the time synchronization mode.IEEE1588 PTP(Precision Timing Protocol)is a precision clock synchronization protocol, support the sub microsecond network clock synchronization accuracy, synchronization can be achieved between the different precision, resolution and stability of the clock, and can achieve in the Ethernet with low cost; As the wide application of time code, IRIG-B type code carrying information volume, comprehensive and high accuracy time synchronization, without the need for manual preset, interface standardization and international general, is the power system of mainstream time synchronization mode; The pulse time synchronization method with high precision, simple realization, the transmission distance is not restricted, is the most extensive manner; Serial message method of time synchronization time information complete, without the need for manual preset, can satisfy the applications of low synchronization precision requirement. In order to solve the problem of time synchronization in power system, the IEEE1588 protocol is analyzed in detail, and on the basis of the comprehensive research on the IRIG-B, also after many kinds of research and demonstration, and considering the cost, practical and scalable factors, a multi-function network clock source is developed in this thesis, relying on the reference clock from GPS/BDS, synchronization by pulse, serial packet, IRIG-B code and network timing and so on many kinds of ways, is the better choice for high precision and high stability of clock synchronization in power system.In this thesis, a hardware implementation scheme based on "LPC1768+DP83640" is proposed. In addition, μC/OS-II embedded operating system is selected to manage each task. Finally, time information performance output test results are shown: pulse time output precision can reach about 50ns; IRIG-B code time output precision can reach 70 ns approximately; a serial port message time output precision control within 1ms; preliminary realized IEEE1588 message transmission. Test results show that the research and development of multifunctional network clock source with high precision, time synchronization in a variety of ways, to meet the requirements of the power system to the output precision of time information, has a good practicability and development prospect.
