With the increase of traffic accidents and the change in transport strategy of the government, as well as the innovation of traffic management concept, intelligent vehicle highway system is becoming the future direction of intelligent transportation development. A variety of important technologies are used to collect the information of vehicles, roads, pedestrians and surrounding environment in the intelligent vehicle highway system. Information interaction between vehicles, road and traffic participants is realized through vehicle wireless communication technology, which has great significance in improving safety performance of vehicles and service quality of transport system, optimizing traffic control strategies and other aspects of travel safety and security. As traditional wireless transmission technologies have their limitations in the vehicle environment and multiple location technologies for high-speed vehicles have low positioning accuracy in complex application environments, the construction of vehicle high speed wireless self-organizing network and vehicle high speed real-time accurate positioning technology grow to be the core problem of intelligent vehicle highway system which need to be solved urgently.Initially, a conceptual model of intelligent vehicle highway system has been innovatively proposed to describe the significant component and key technologies of intelligent vehicle highway system on the base of previous research achievements. By comparing a variety of wireless communication technologies, wireless access technology in vehicular environments(IEEE 802.11 p protocol) is selected to design and establish the vehicle high speed wireless self-organizing network platform to implement the real-time communication between vehicles, roads, pedestrians and surrounding environment, which aims to provide reliable, comprehensive vehicle motion parameters, road conditions, weather conditions and other service information for traffic participants. By performance test of vehicle high speed wireless self-organizing network, the relative impacts of roadside repeater, vehicle speed and vehicle relative distance on the performance of vehicle high speed wireless self-organizing network has been researched in this paper. Subsequently, vehicle high speed real-time accurate positioning system is built on the base of vehicle real-time vehicle differential localization algorithm, which aims to solve the problem of low positioning accuracy, slow response and other core issues of high speed vehicle in complex urban road environment. A self-designed vehicle positioning simulation software is used to test the accuracy of vehicle real-time differential localization algorithm and to analyze the main factors of positioning system. Ultimately, the representative research achievements are summarized through the analysis of the test results, additionally, the major obstacles and improving measures in the next research period of intelligent vehicle highway system are comprehensively discussed.
