Air-rail intermodality services could enhance the economic and social benefits of the whole transport system through the integration of the advantages of air and rail transport, making the best use of their strengths. With the popularity and rapid development of air-ral intermodality, it becomes an urgent task to establish a comprehensive and integrated information system.Firstly, the air-rail intermodality information system(ARIIS) is defined, and it introduces the present situation and results of theoretical studies of domestic and international air-rail integration and intelligent transport systems. Then the needs of users are fully analysed to determine seven functional sub-systems using U/C matrix method. Using hierarchical data flow diagram(DFD), top-level logical architecture, first grade thinned image and second grade thinned images of seven sub-systems(Operation Service System, Assistant Decision-Making System, Integrated Ticketing System, Feedback Service System, Through Baggage Handling System, Information Management System, Financial Management System) are constructed based on the function of air-rail intermodality system. Then it defines and illustrates the top-level physical architecture of ARIIS, information sharing platform and system security. Assistant Decision-Making System is programmed and developed as well. Besides, means of realizing integrated ticketing and baggage through handling are explained respectively. In the end, air-rail intermodal mode of Jing-Jin-Ji area is analyzed, while air-rail intermodal passenger process is modeled and simulated using ProModel, taking Shijiazhuang International Airport and Tianjin International Airport as examples. Implementing approach of Jing-Jin-Ji Air-Rail Intermodality Information System in the future is planned as well. In summary, it provides some theoretical support and reference value for the construction and development of air-rail intermodality information system.
