With the rapid development of mobile Internet, providing passengers with broadband data communication services has gradually become a trend in the aviation industry. Aeronautical ad hoc network is expected to be an important complement to aeronautical mobile communications network by establishing of communication links between the aircraft and to achieving self-organizing network forms of aeronautical communications, Aeronautical ad hoc network will for the passengers to provide voice, data and multimedia communications services. In aeronautical ad hoc network, the power of the nodes transmit directly affects the spatial reuse and the network throughput. As the uneven distribution of the aircraft node, using the traditional power control strategies and the modulation scheme is not conducive to full use of link capacity, limiting further improve network throughput. Therefore, the study of power control algorithm to apply aeronautical ad hoc network has great significance. In this paper, researching and analyzing the aeronautical ad hoc network adaptive transmission protocols, and the adaptive power control algorithm which bases on directional antenna and TDMA protocols for aeronautical ad hoc network. The main research work is as follows:(1) Proposed a power control algorithm, by extracting real-time aircraft itself load information to calculate the current required transmission rate, and using the neighbor information in aircraft ADS-B system to calculates the minimum transmission power which meet the demand of load, to improve network throughput while reducing energy wasted.(2) Realized the cross-layer load sensing and adaptive power control. This protocol uses cross-layer design and extracts the length of the queue the data link layer to complete load-sensing, and according to load size adaptive change the transmission power. when the load is small, according to the demodulation threshold of lowest order modulation scheme and the transmission distance of the destination node to determine transmission power; when the load is large, according to the transmission distance of the potential interfered node and the modulation scheme required by the load and transmit power which limited by aircraft to adaptive selection of modulation scheme and transmit power to maximize transfer rate.(3) Design and Simulation. From the directional antenna node model implementation, TDMA protocol improvements, data exchange, ADS-B system, power control and other aspects to design, and the programming in the NS2 network simulation software.NS2 simulation results show that the aeronautical ad hoc network adaptive control power transmission mechanism based on load in network throughput and packet loss rate showed a good performance.
