During “the 10 th Five-Year",the country put forward the rural problems, under the guidance of the country farmers not only solve the basic housing problem, also put forward higher requirements of the living environment. The demand of farmers to improve the indoor thermal environment is increasing, which directly leads to the change of energy structure in rural areas, and the operation energy consumption of rural buildings is increasing year by year. From an economic point of view, combined with the rural itself has a good micro environment, passive technology in the rural areas is more easy to implement. It should be possible to use the local climatic characteristics, to find solutions for rural residential housing to reduce energy loss, and improve the indoor thermal environment of farmers, improve the indoor thermal comfort to meet the use requirements.This paper takes the rural residential area of Chongqing as the research object, using the method of field investigation, field test, theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, discusses the different roof insulation in the summer climate cooling energy-saving effect.First of all, the status of the Chongqing area and the status of rural residential thermal environment were investigated and analyzed. The survey contents include building type, building envelope, living status, energy use status, thermal environment improvement measures, roof type, structure, thermal insulation measures, etc.. On the basis of this, the thermal parameters of three typical residential buildings were selected. The analysis can be obtained, Chongqing rural residential areas in the top floor of the thermal environment is commonly bad, and the roof get the most heat among outside the enclosure structure, the thermal performance of the roof is worse than the external walls.Analyzing the indoor thermal environment influenced by building envelope structure and outdoor weather. Summer solar radiation is strong in Chongqing, due to the location of the roof and residential buildings in rural areas the proportion of larger, roof gets more heat.It lead to the poor thermal environment of top room, and will increase the energy consumption of air conditioning. Therefore, it is proposed to use the roof insulation measures and appropriate ventilation to improve the thermal insulation of the top floor indoor thermal environment, and divide the summer weather in Chongqing into three kinds: natural ventilation, night ventilation, air conditioning cooling process.Finally, use simulation software on the roof of the ventilation, extensive landscaping and meets the energy-saving standards of insulation measures, Simulation and analysis of indoor cooling and energy-saving effect of three kinds of weather in summer. The results showed that: in the natural operating conditions(natural ventilation, night ventilation), three kinds of thermal insulation roof can meet the requirements of thermal insulation and environment requirements, the green roof insulation effect is the best, followed by the roof insulation. In the condition of air conditioning operation, thermal insulation and energy saving effect of insulation roof is the best, and in the condition of intermittent air conditioning, the effect of thermal insulation in the roof is better than that of the outside.
