In the modern industrial production,the material level monitoring is one of the key parts of process control management.Through real-time monitoring of the level,we could get important reference information which is significant for the management of existing material in the container.Gamma ray level meter has been widely used because it is suitable for material level measurement under adverse and complex conditions in which general instrument cannot or be difficult to use,such as high temperature,high pressure,strong corrosion,strong toxicity,strong smog,and so on.Besides,material level manual measurement needs someone to watch in the field,which may consume manpower resource.The level measurement instrument is designed,which is based on the above problems and it combines gamma-ray detection technology and virtual instrument.According to the national standard design requirement:the stability of the system is less than 1.5%,the accuracy of the system is equal to or less than 1.5%.First of all,research background and significance of the task,the development status of γ-ray level meter,the advantage of virtual technology and the structure of arrangement of the paper are described in this paper.Gamma ray level meter based on Lab VIEW is researched in this paper.Its hardware is composed of the data acquisition module of the material level meter,the probe of the material level meter and personal computer.The data acquisition module of the material level meter is made up of a high voltage power supply,a low voltage power supply,a analog signal processing circuit and a microprocessor controlling circuit.The nuclear pulse analog signal processing circuit can realize the pole zero cancellation,pulse amplification,pulse amplitude analysis etc.The single chip microcomputer control circuit can achieve digital control,data display and RS-232 serial USB data transfer.The software program includes the MCU control program and virtual instrument program.The virtual instrument is developed in Lab VIEW programming environment.In this paper,the hardware part of the system is described in detail and the related parameters are designed separately according to the module.In addition,the program of the MCU control circuit is introduced,and the corresponding program code is given.The development process of the virtual instrument based on Lab VIEW gamma ray level meter is described.Finally,the experimental test results show that the stability of the system is less than 1.41%,the accuracy of the system is less than 0.7%,which basically meets the design requirements.The gamma ray level meter based on Lab VIEW has these characteristics;good stability,simple interface and high precision of measurement.Meanwhile,the cost of design and development of the level meter is low and the measurement and controlling software is easy to upgrade,which is beneficial for popularization and utilization of the gamma ray level meter and has some practical value for improving the management of industrial container material level timely and effectively,saving the production cost and increasing the production capacity.
