With the continuous rapid economic development, an increasing possession quantity of mobile vehicles achieved rapidly in our country, and the city transport burden, as well as the traffic safety condition continues to grow worse in recent years. Driver, as the most active factor in the transport system, has a fundamental effect on the traffic safety. As the tendentiousness among different drivers differs a lot, which would result in different impacts on the traffic safety. So it would be a worthy work to study the influence of different kinds of driver on the safety condition as well as relevant countermeasures to deal with it.Road intersection, as the crossing area of different directions of traffic flow, its safety and efficiency are important influence factors which act on the urban transport network system, what’s more, the "dilemma zone" phenomenon in the intersection would put drivers into a dilemma choice when the amber light starts, which have a negative effect on the traffic safety. Therefore, conducting a study which focus on the different driving behaviors in the intersection area, especially the driving behavior within "dilemma zone", has become a key factor to solve the "dilemma zone" problem.In this paper, the domestic and international research results in the area of driving behavior characteristics, traffic conflicts technology(TCT), "dilemma zone", etc. are summarized; typical interactions are chosen and driving characteristics investment as well as driving behavior experiments were carried out based on the appointed driver samples, relevant data are collected; conclusions and classification method are proposed for the driving behavior characteristics (three evaluation angles:safety cognition ability, driving radicalness level and driving skill level); a Logistics regression model was established based on the driving characteristics data collected in the intersection "dilemma zone", different discrete choices in the "dilemma zone" were analyzed; and traffic signal optimization scheme are proposed to deal the "dilemma zone" problem in a certain intersection.
