In recent years, the number of power transformers has been increased rapidly with the quick development of national electric network. In all kinds of electrical equipment, the power transformer plays a very important role because of its voltage converting functions. Its safe and stable operation is the premise of power system safety and stability in operation. It can directly and highly affect the power supply. Therefore, electric power industry sector has paid special attention to the reliability of its operation. In order to detect the potential faults of the transformer、early transformer fault and take timely measures to deal with them, the electric power industry has developed a lot of testing procedures and strict standards for the health of the transformer. Because oil chromatography detecting technology can sensitively display data anomalies when there are hidden troubles in the transformer, this technology is an indispensable and important technology for the detection of transformer condition for several decades.In fact, oil chromatographic technology is a scientific and advanced technology. However, due to the changing objective factors and subjective factors in practical work, it is often interfered with the staff to make the correct judgment by using this technology. This needs to study the actual case of accumulated experience and extract the better way to solve the problem, so as to achieve proficiency in the application of this technology to accurately detect transformer faults. This paper combines with the operation status of Nanjing regional power grid, lists five actual transformer fault detection cases, describes the various fault cases occurred after and details process analysis of transformer fault diagnosis using oil chromatographic chromatography. Through carries on the computation and the analysis to the oil chromatograph experiment obtained data, has studied the transformer breakdown recognition and the breakdown diagnosis thoroughly. Further compares with these five cases in a way that sorting, summary and induction, realizes the data value "the depuration", discovers the breakdown development rule as well as the important link spot which needs to pay attention in the transformer failure detection work process, clears transformer failure detection and the guiding ideology for the work of the ways and means. Namely has obtained the precious knowledge experience and the reality lesson. If it is applied to the actual work of transformer fault detection in the future can effectively improve the work efficiency and accuracy.
