Occupies a lot of land in our country steel-making country, steel output has for many years ranked first in the world, according to the relevant data, each production of 1 ton of steel will produce about 0.13 tons of steel slag, slag emissions throughout the year reached 90 million tons, steel slag can be with piled up a mountain to describe, until the end of 2014,steel slag accumulated stock has more than 10 million tons, comprehensive utilization rate of only 10%, to environment caused great pollution. On the other hand deposited slag. Thus, the steel slag become problems urgently to be solved.In addition, with the increase of traffic volume and heavy load, pavement damage has become the most difficult problem in the traffic department. Through the investigation of pavement damage, it is found that more than 50% of pavement damage is not satisfied with the design parameters. Through experimental study, the physical and mechanical properties of steel slag, such as crushing strength, wear loss, freezing resistance and so on, are equal to or better than ordinary rolling limestone. In this paper, the experimental study on the anti cracking performance of steel slag cement mixture is carried out, and the results are obtained by the experiments of compaction, dry shrinkage and temperature shrinkage:(1) with the same cement content, the steel slag gradation is bigger, and the maximum dry density is higher. The higher the content of cement, the higher the content of water, the smaller the maximum dry density. The optimum water content and the maximum dry density of the mixed material of steel slag cement are all greater than that of the gravel.(2) cement has a great influence on the experimental results of dry shrinkage. The same steel slag cement gradation, greater content, shrinkage and dry shrinkage strain increasing,crack resistance is not good. Drying shrinkage coefficient increases with the increase of water loss rate, but not the final water loss rate, the dry shrinkage coefficient is bigger; the dry shrinkage coefficient is related to the initial water content of the mixture. Dry shrinkage characteristics of steel slag cement mixture is better than the gravel mixture.(3) cement has a great influence on the experimental results of temperature shrinkage.With the same steel slag gradation, the bigger the cement content, the bigger the temperature shrinkage strain, the better the anti cracking performance. In the same cement content, the temperature shrinkage strain of steel slag gradation is between the temperature and strain distribution of sand gravel gradation, not all the temperature shrinkage characteristics of steel slag cement mixture are better than that of the mixture of sand and gravel.
