In this paper, the mechanical behavior of the side-slope pile on the loess is studied. Comparing with mechanical characteristics of traditional pile foundation, the side-slope pile foundation has its own characteristics. Due to the influence of the interaction between piles and loess slope, the side-slope pile shows the different features comparing with the level-ground pile, which makes it own the characteristics of active pile and passive pile. The main performance is that, on the one hand, due to the effect of pile foundations of bridge transferring the vertical and horizontal loads, the pile changes the equilibrium state of the slope, which may produce potential landslide thrust on piles. On the other hand, because of the soil height changing on both sides along the gradient direction, the slope soil has influences on vertical and horizontal support function of the side-slope pile, which affects the mechanical characteristics of pile foundation. In addition to the collapsibility loess, the effect of collapsibility on the mechanical characteristics of side-slope pile foundation should also be considered. In this article, all kinds of factors of side-slope pile foundation affected by the slope are called “slope effect”. Based on the research status at home and abroad, systematic research of the side-slope pile is studied considering the influence of various factors on the side-slope bridge pile foundation and combining the theoretical analysis and test. The main research contents are as follows:(1)The research methods of potential landslide thrust is from the anti-slide pile. According to the beneficial results in both at home and abroad, it chooses the reasonable distribution mode of soil thrust on the loess slope.(2)On the basis of the stress of level-ground pile, the force analysis is done to the bridge pile foundation on loess slope considering the slope effect, which can obtain the differential equations of bridge pile. The finite difference method is applicated to solve it. Based on Visual c++ platform. Analytical solution of differential equations is solved for the bridge pile of endbearing on the slope.(3)The influence factors of slope effect are analyzed, including the distribution of landslide thrust mode, the combination load on pile top, the load direction, relative stiffness between pile and soil and the loess collapsibility, to reflect stress state of loess slope pile. Using the finite difference method calculates the stress variation characteristics of pile foundation under single factor.(4)The influence of soil resistance on pile's characteristics is through the method of outdoor test. It is divided into three groups with different distances from test pile to the slope. It can obtain the law of side-slope pile's properties under the effect of soil resistance behind pile by simulating the loading way of bridge pile. Then the test results are statistically analyzed and eventually come to variation law of the pile's force characteristics under the slope effect.
