China is in the phase of transformation of energy structure. Low-carbon transportation is the inevitable choice to achieve the transformation of energy structure under current transportation industry. As a type of low-carbon, green way to travel in the traditional sense, conventional public transportation is widely promoted with its low cost of travel, large volume, low-carbon emission and other characteristics. However, low-carbon emission of the conventional public transportation is based on per capita carbon emissions, but not a natural way of low-carbon transportation and the low-carbon of the conventional public transportation will not be guaranteed if the traffic in the lines is insufficient, thus it will not be able to achieve the transformation of energy structure under current transportation industry. Therefore, in this thesis, the optimization of low-carbon of the conventional public transportation is studied. In this thesis, the concept of low-carbon, low-carbon transport and low-carbon public transportation are studied, and then the optimization method commonly used of the public transportation network, carbon emission of the public vehicles and something else related are summarized. The factors affecting the public transportation network are analyzed, as a basis, a bi-level optimization model is established under the comprehensive consideration of traveler, public transportation operators and environment. The model is solved by improved ant colony algorithm to get a reasonable conventional public transportation network layout.Based on the concept of low-carbon, low carbon transportation and related content, features, the principles of conventional public transportation network optimization theory and the vehicle’s coefficient of carbon emissions, combined with the current situation of China’s public transportation network, we analyze the low-carbon of the conventional public transportation network, and make some appropriate adjustments to the constraints of the general public traffic network. Based on the analysis of the theoretical and the status quo, we establish a bi-level optimization model which upper with the least consuming of the total network and lower with passenger’s travel distribution. With the use of improved ant colony algorithm, reduce the disadvantages of the ant colony algorithm in order to achieve the goal of the low-carbon optimization of the conventional public transportation network. Finally, with the example of Zaozhuang central district, the public transportation network in the region is optimized, and it is proved that the optimization method is reasonable and effective.
