The wind power generation in Jiangxi area was mainly centralized in the wind power plants in mountainous regions, the conventional way to transport the blades up the mountain was horizontal and oblique transport, which has a high demand for roads, a ecological destruction and a low efficiency in transport. According to the engineering problems of a certain electric power building design institute, this paper proposed a method to transport the wind turbine blade vertically. The main mechanical problems during the transportation and operation of the large blade had been worked out.This paper made a summary based on the works done by the domestic and overseas scholars and proposed a method to transport the wind turbine blade vertically, based on systematically expounding the transportation trailer, blade and its relevant load calculation and computing theory of the overturn of trailer, a lot of analysis and researches on theories and data had been done in terms of transportation of blade up the mountain, hoisting and operation to obtain a stream of practical conclusions for engineering application. The second chapter made a summary and conclusion on the relevant researches in terms of transportation of wind turbine blade, tools for transportation of blade and the effect of large transportation components on road and so on, a lot of analysis had been conducted in this paper in terms of the mechanics and mechanical performance of trailer used for blade transportation, the overall center of gravity during the process of blade transportation, wind load, turning and climbing of trailer and so on, so that a mechanical model of blade transportation was built and the computation expression of balance weight used to prevent the overturn of trailer during the vertical blade transportation was provided, and the relationship between a stream of factors such as turning radius and climbing angle of trailer, size, balance weight, the traction power of motor tractor, road roughness and wind speed and so on, through lots of theoretical calculation, this paper proposed a new and feasible engineering transportation method to vertically transport the blade. The next chapter analyzed several crucial mechanical issues in the course of transporting the blade up the mountain, and presented according solutions, the shape coefficient of blade and its maximal load related to wind load were obtained through the hydromechanics simulation, on the premise that the transportation trailer is free from overturn, the balance weight for trailer in the course of blade transportation was designed, finally, an analysis on the relationship between the quantity of blades transported and balance weight for trailer, climbing angle and turning radius of road of transportation was conducted, based on which, the economical efficiency and benefit of blade transportation had been analyzed. In the fourth chapter, several crucial mechanical issues in the process of hoisting and operation of large wind turbine blade had been discussed, the finite element models of support for blade transportation and hoisting cage, blade simplification and overall set of wind turbine generator were built, the crucial mechanical issues concerning the blade hoisting and operation such as the strength of blade hoisting cage and support, flexibility deformation of simplified blade model, inherent frequency of wind turbine blade and fluid-structure interaction between the tower shelf and wind turbine blade had been analyzed.Finally, the overturn angle of trailer during the blade transportation is usually less than the theoretical calculation value, in this paper, the model experiment of vertical transportation of wind turbine blade was studied to obtain the safety angle with which the trailer can be prevented from overturn, ensuring the safety of the new vertical method of blade transportation, eventually, the shortcomings of the study had been discussed to provide a guiding advice for the future work.
