Among the three kinds of calculation in power system, Flow calculation is a kind of basic calculation. We use flow calculation for steady-state analysis of power system, but also use it to verify the type that how system works. Flow calculation forms the basis of the above-described object. In the area of flow calculation, PQ decomposition method(sometimes called fast decoupled method) is an important method of calculation as 1970 s lifted and known. Derived from Newton Raphson method, in convergence speed and memory footprint PQ decomposition method occupies a huge advantage as it has done a series of reasonable simplification based on Newton Raphson method. However, this does not mean that there is no disadvantage or improved space on such a long history mathematic calculation method. Convinced of this paper to explore the PQ decomposition method can bring new vitality to change even if the PQ decomposition method seems so perfect. This improved method herein referred to as “rapid PQ decomposition method flow calculation.” Simplify the use of storage, data consolidation, convergence improved and the symmetry of the sparsity of the use of technology will be able to greatly accelerate the PQ decomposition method in the process of solving the correcting equation. It also has the ability to improve effectively the convergence when the number of node is more than one hundred in power system. It will be clearly presented between traditional PQ decomposition method and rapid PQ decomposition method flow calculation in the comparative examples. In additional the improved method of PQ decomposition in the frame of rectangular coordinate system which few people pay attention to is study on the paper.
