Xiangtan Yaowan historical block is a traditional ancient commercial block, this place save more historic sites with deep cultural connotation in xiangtan. It experienced from agricultural society to the small business society during the process of natural evolution, accumulated the massive folk traditional culture, which is closely linked with the life form, and sustain its unique, rich mountain, water, street environment space, in the generations inheritance.Yaowan historical block retained the face due to the history of the past prosperity. But it's not suitable for modern life pursues living comfort and efficient fast rhythm of production activities. In recent years, it is facing imbalance of the function structure and the plight of vigor recession.Now, Yaowan is given priority to with tourism cultural heritage business development activities, both has brought unprecedented opportunities, also bring new challenges, pressure and risks. Therefore, how to protect historical and cultural resources through effective control of tourism development construction has become important subject in the construction of the historical and cultural blocks protection.In view of the historical block and cultural tourism development problems, this article from the traditional cultural tourism block update construction perspective, reference architecture,environment art, tourism and other disciplines theory, combining with the actual situation of Yaowan, the Yaowan's tourism blocks of architecture and environmental design and its theory has carried on the system research and the empirical, it's conducive to protect the local historic blocks and the traditional building, carry forward Yaowan's historical and cultural, as well as provides reference for architecture and environmental design of other cultural tourism blocks.The paper discusses the historical evolution of Yaowan, and expounds the present situation of traditional block of Yaowan. I analyzed the architecture and the environment of traditional cultural tourism block. Based on the research of the traditional cultural tourism block, combining with the project, demonstrate the realistic significance and academic value of inheriting regional culture.Based on the history literature and research results of Xiangtan Yaowan, and analyze architectural and environmental characteristics, puts forward design principles and design strategy of Yaowan cultural tourism block, as well as the concrete design method, theoretical framework. Finally, use Yaowan river street design and bar street design as an example, apply the theory research to design practice, confirm feasibility and practical significance of the theoretical study.
