This paper introduces a time domain analysis techniques based on vector network analyzer. The time domain analysis can improve the measurement precision of some applications and can extend some new test application for vector network analyzer.It is important to understand the Fourier transform theory, the continuous and discrete Fourier transform are described in this paper. The differences between Fourier transform and time domain function in the vector network is also been introduced. The window function, discrete sampling and re-normalization are discussed. The mathematical formulas about time domain analysis are introduced and simulated used by matlab. Several time-domain analysis functions are introduce, The TDR and TDT are accomplished; The time-domain gating and compensation of masking error are discussed. The compensation method can improve the accuracy of the test; A new signal integrity analysis of high-speed channel is also introduced. The eye diagram is plotted and the jitter can be measured. The pre-emphasis and equalization analysis are allowed. A time domain analysis software is developed by using Labview and several experiments are presented in this paper to verify the techniques of time-domain analysis."The time domain analysis technology based on the vector network analyzer " is studied in this paper and make a certain accumulation for the study in this field. A new compensation method of masking error is described.
