Reactor is the important equipment in high-voltage transmission lines and is widely used in electric power system. Oil-immersed reactor generates large noises when it is working, based on the experience of predecessors' summary, the noise of the reactor mainly produced by the vibration of the iron core, which is caused by the core electromagnetic force and the magnetostriction. the vibration is transmitted to the oil tank and other parts through connection device and oil medium. Finally generate vibration and noise together. In this paper, in order to study the noise mechanism of oil-immersed reactor and the effect of oil medium in the reactor noise, we calculate modal of cylindrical shell with water by the finite element analysis software ANSYS, and study the influence of different liquid height and liquid density on the cylindrical shell mode. Then we build the reactor model and accomplish the modal analysis, we also do a modal test to the reactor.Compared the results of the modal test with the finite element analysis results, we can verify the correctness of the model. Finally in the condition of the simplified reactor model, we calculate the sound pressure results of oil tank and the iron core as well as the sound pressure results of the whole reactor. Then compare the sound pressure results of the reactor with oil and without oil. This article clears that the impact of different liquid height level on the frequency and vibration mode of the container. And get the differences between the modal of oil tank without oil and filled with oil. Finally, clears the oil tank is the main noise source of the reactor by the sound field analysis, and the oil medium has an important influence on the reactor noise.
