The large cylindrical roller bearings with the solidcages are often widely used in low-speed, heavy-loaded conditions such as wind turbine, mining, oceanwork, etc. due to its size and high load capacity. Therefore, the high riveting quality of the cage is of great importance to the bearing on the basis of the riveting machine.The research of the rolling riveting machine is derived from the related company project. At present, the pressing riveting was widely used with the rivet nail and rivet nail head putting in-line manually, which often leads to unqualified riveting quality, poor alignment, over-demanded pressure, unreasonable process factors, etc. In order to solve these problems above, a new kind of machine riveting the cage of the large cylindrical roller bearings was developed. The main containment of the research are described as follows:(1) The overall structure of the equipment was determined based on empirical design methods and combined with related mechanical design theory,which use the rolling riveting technology. The main modules of the machine were designed as following:structure of the sway riveter head and its strained conditions were determined; Clamping unit accommodating different type of cylindrical roller bearings was designed; the rivet alignment function can be achieved under the reasonable control of the sensor;the alignment between rivet and riveter head can be made automatically with the help of server motor and ball screw.(2) Riveting machine execution system is provided by the hydraulic and pneumatic system. The power,which use to overcome the rivet deformation,is given from the hydraulic system. The pneumatic system is responsiblefor bearing clamping and the alignment mechanism movement.The PLC unit was adopted for achieving the automatic production according to the project demand so as to finish the design task.(3) Based on the basic principles of the rigid-plastic finite element method,The process of riveting the large aspect ratio rivet was simulated with the help of Deform-3D, with the given riveting process parameters,we can analyze the load forces,stress and stain and provide some theoretical information during riveting.The large type cage riveting machine was finally developed in order to enhance the riveting quality during bearing manufacturing based on the whole design of the machine, the analysis of the present production situation, the description of the structure of every module, the determination of the control and implement units and the dummy simulation confirming the process parameters.
