As a clean energy, solar energy has been caused widespread concern due to its huge reserves and renewable and without geographical restrictions and many advantages. The solar semiconductor refrigeration had many advantages, such as not using refrigerants and low noise, and which has a very broad application prospects.The basic principles of the solar semiconductor refrigeration were elaborated, and then the cooling load was estimated on the experimental system in the paper. Based on those, the platform components were selected and the system was designed and built for the solar semiconductor refrigeration system. Then, the experimental performance test was made, and whose results were analyzed. Through the above research, many factors influencing the semiconductor cooling performance were initially obtained under three kinds of cooling modes that are air cooling, water cooling and heat pipes cooling.The results showed the cooling capacity of coolers gradually increases with the increase of refrigeration piece of voltage, but the added value is gradually reduced, and the actual cooling coefficient of the cooling piece reduced after the first increase under three kinds of cooling modes. The best voltage of the hot end fan is 10 V for the forced air cooling system, on which the actual refrigeration coefficient and cooling capacity of coolers are the maximum in those cooling modes. The cooling performance is optimal when the combination of nylon screws and the thermal grease is applied into the auxiliary equipment. Compared with the TEC1-12704 coolers, the refrigeration cooling capacity of the TEC1-12708 coolers is large on the voltage of 6 ~ 14 V, but its actual cooling coefficient is small. The best total amount of the recycled water is 2.5L for the water cooling system. Compared with the TEC1-12704 coolers, the cooling capacity and the actual cooling coefficient of the TEC1-12708 coolers are larger. The best voltage of the hot pipe fan is 10 V for the heat pipes cooling system. The way of the hot end cooling should be the air cooling and the heat pipe cooling when the operating voltages of the TEC1-12708 coolers are 2 ~ 6V and 8 ~14V.
