River terrain is one of the basic elements of river simulation.In the preparation of river numerical simulation and physical model experimen,the channel initial terrain will directly affect the credibility and accuracy of the simulation results.The existing river terrain reconstruction method,establish the initial terrain section through mathematical interpolation method mainly according to the measured section of upstream and downstream of the terrain data in the channel.What this kind of method's obvious flaw is that,tpurely mathematical interpolation didn't use any information of water-sediment movement,but in longitudinal the reconstruction of terrain is continuous and smooth,but in the lateral it will appear unnatural banding structure,this kind of terrain will have significant impact to the test and the simulation results on both the physical model test and the numerical simulation.In this paper,the method of cellular automata is introduced into the terrain reconstruction process,through simplifying the complex process of the river dynamics.It sets up dynamic action rules between cellulars including the evolution rules of longitudinal runoff,the erosion and deposition rules of cellular unit,the water and sediment moving rules of the curve,the flow around and lateral erosion rules of the river island and the lateral extension rules of the river.Eventually it forms a river terrain reconstruction model based on cellular automata method.Through calculating and evaluating terrain reconstruction of three river(groove)on different scale,the results show that the terrain reconstruction based on cellular automata method can avoid the former strip of natural terrain,reconstruction of terrain can not only reflect the trend of the real terrain,and the differences with the actual terrain is lesser,can provide the physical model test and numerical simulation better based terrain data.
