Single column pier curved bridge is widely used in viaduct because of its excellent characteristics.But in recent years,single column pier curved bridge attracted people's attention due to the frequent accidents.However,the overturning design principle of single column pier bridge is mainly based on rigid rotation theory which was proved with large error.And so study on theory and mechanism of single column pier bridge need to be carried out as soon as possible.This paper study four aspects as follow:First,propose three kinds of possible failure mode of overturning through investigation and study of the two curved girder bridges with a single column pier collapsed wreckage site.comparing and restoring analysis will be studied according to the data collected on Yuegan Expressway ramp bridge,and with this,put forward simulating beneficial effects of bearing size against overturning by using limited anti-torsion bearing;secondly,based on the energy method and force method,analyze the contact between the box girder?piers and bears,in two modes such as regardless of the bearing size to the anti-overturning or considering it,propose two methods of anti-overturning calculation;thirdly,in the example of Yuegan bridge and Jinjin Bridge,establish a contact model with ABAQUS,the theoretical calculation method is used to calculate the overturning stability of single column pier bridge,and also analyzing the influencing factor;lastly,the criterion of judgment and the corresponding calculation of anti-overturn for single column pier bridge will be established.
