It has been extremely popular since the products of IKEA entered the Chinese market in2000.The lifestyle and modern design style of IKEA,which are most praised,affect the household concept of Chinese people.However,the products of IKEA are not unaltered.Except the series of the classic products,in recent years, the PS Series aimed at young consumers have been popular to young people.The reason, both in classic IKEA products or innovation in the tradition of the PS series have their own excellent design based on the traditional innovation.This paper will plunge in the association and the development of the Classical Series and PS Series design on IKEA products,through comparing and analyzing the relationship between the classical series of LACK, BILLY, BESTA and PS Series,and then sum up the successful experience of IKEA in recent years. And combine the situation domestic similar trades, sort of home industry in transition opportunities facing the same moment the development of ideas, put forward the corresponding proposals for action.The paper is divided into five parts:The first chapter is introduction. Based on the background and significance of the object of discussion, elaborate the research ideas and determine the content and then proposed the research framework.The second chapter:define the corresponding concepts, combine the modern design development in Northern Europe, combing the features of the IKEA classic design.The third chapter:analyze the design concept for IKEA PS series,which is abundant constantly,the tradition of Northern Europe design and breakthrough innovation, as well as product design embodied.The forth chapter:combine the present situation of domestic industry, referring to the successful experience of IKEA design heritage and innovation, and explore the future development trend of similar trades, and put forward the suggestions about how to achieve both tradition and innovation.The tradition:the brand should be based on local cultural essence to establish worth eternal heritage values and design philosophy, pay attention to traditional materials and traditional handicraft heritage, design embodying traditional implication; the innovation should closely follow the development trend of the times and constantly improve its focus on the concept of sustainable development, seeking to traditional materials and modern equilibrium process,and also concern about the application of new materials, a variety of modeling methods, and make design based on the scientific keenly analysis of the new changes in people's home life under the development of the new era.The fifth chapter:About the last part of major lack of research and prospects.
