Firstly,this paper briefly introduces the present status of the intelligent distribution network,focusing on the research of the intelligent distribution network between China and the abroad.It is also reviewed the difficulties of developing the intelligent distribution network.Secondly,according to the methods of realization and communication,the paper recommends the distribution network fault location system in details.Through the analysis of each method,the structure of this system is chosen.With the help of the above research,this paper presents the intelligent electric distribution network fault location system that based on McWill.It mainly consists of fault indicator,data collector and communication of master station and this paper emphasizes the fault indicator and data collector.In this system,we choose the suitable method to estimate whether the earthing and the short-circuit faults happen.The fault indicator gets the power form the line to solve the problem that it cannot run for long time.The communication between fault indicator and the data collector is through the method of RF with the help of the N608 module.The MEM 160 module which is placed in the data collector helps the data transmission between the data collector and the main station based on McWill.All the measures above make great efforts on positioning the break point.Finally,it is the summary of this paper,which puts forward some problem that should be solved in the follow-up research,such as long time operating of the data collector and host software,etc.The system based on McWill that proposed in this paper can realize the fast and accurate positioning of break point in electric distribution network.It is a beneficial exploration for the construction of intelligent distribution network.
