Research on cross-sectional design based on functional classification of urban road, the article is the research on vertical and horizontal functional classification system of urban road,directting at the study of different road function to carry on the cross-sectional design. From the results of research at home and abroad, neither the domestic system of functional classification of urban road, or the current situation of road cross-section design, there are a lot of deficiencies in the functional classification of urban road and the cross-section design at home. Primarily the functional classification of urban road remains two levels on the classification of "four vertical" and technical indexes.In the two levels, the former level exists long span between in urban expressway and main road, which adverse to the smooth transition development of urban network; the latter level exists shortage in classifying and exploring different scale city, different road using function and mixed-functional road research. Accordingly, it causes a range of issues, including the inaccurate orientation of function in road cross-section design, the contradiction between design function and using function, the lack of forward-thinking in road cross-section design, the unreasonable arrangement of vehicle way, bicycle way, sidewalk. Therefore, it is important to research systematically for functional classification of urban road, revisit the cross-sectional design based on functional classification of urban road, improve urban road in functional aspects of space frame, landscape environment, traffic carrier, common space urban disaster-prevention.This paper have a superficial exploration of functional classification of urban road from five aspects: vertical functional classification of urban road; horizontal functional classification of urban road based on technical index; functional classification of road based on urban scale; horizontal functional classification of other road; functional of mixed-functional road. The new views, increasing fast way and so on, are put forward in this paper on improving vertical functional classification of urban road. The function of different road cross-section design were chiefly compared in this paper.It was pointed out that eachcross-sectional design of functional road is discussed under the guidance of the existing design specifications and experience. Furthermore, the cross-sectional evaluation method based on multi-step evaluation model is studied in this thesis. Through the case analysis such as functional classification of Xiangjiang New Liberated Areas in Changsha, and cross-sectional design of Shennan Boulevard, Furong Road, Dongfanghong Road, Wanjiali Road, Jianhu Road makes a concrete analysis of feasible and scientific cross-sectional design based on the function classification.In this paper, which provides effective decision scheme for the domestic urban road cross-section design, has a certain reference value to functional classification of urban road.What's more, it is important guide significance for urban road network planning and road design, offers is of great significance to the healthy development of urban road.
