With the development and application of computer, technology of analytical and testing instruments has achieved a qualitative leap and widely used in domains of chemistry, chemical engineering, material, environment, energy, medicine, forensic, life science and medical science.As a key step in analytical instruments, peak detection algorithm has a great significance to analytical instruments’ determination and ration to matter. Its pros and cons in sensitivity and stability has a serious relationship to the performance of analytical instruments. Consequently, finding out the peak detection algorithm which owns independent intellectual property rights has an important practical significance to reduce the production costs and improve the analysis ability of analytical instruments.This thesis uses Skyray’s analyzer GC-MS 6800 as an example, makes a further study of the peak detection algorithm and its software implementation. Firstly, this thesis analyses the common peak shape, introduces the Pre-processing method of data smoothing and the traditional peak detection algorithm, and puts forward a new algorithm to what the traditional peak detection algorithm lacks. Secondly, this thesis introduces GC-MS 6800’s data acquisition circuit and its different serial port communication protocol, designs the serial port communication protocol with the lower position machine according to the practical situation, the data collection interface. Lastly, this thesis introduces GC-MS 6800’s original detection algorithm, expounds its shortcomings according to the actual inspection situation, and then raises the zero area of symmetrical peak detection algorithm, makes the simulation analysis of this algorithm, compares the differences to the original algorithm, and verifies the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
