With the naval equipment constructions require more water supply, suction box as the construction connecting with sea water pump, gets more and more applications. While the fluid flows through suction box, flow-induced oscillation phenomenon occurs, under certain conditions, not only the suction box structure even the overall structure of the vessel will be damaged, so the flow-induced oscillation problem of suction box gets attention. Suction box structure belongs to cave-in cavity, most of the study is only for cave-in cavity structure that suction box itself, while ignoring the geogrid on suction box to prevent contaminants, which also influences the flow oscillation phenomenon, therefore, this paper researches the flow oscillation phenomenon generated when the fluid flow through the suction box with a geogrid.In this paper, FLUENT software is used to study fluid flow characteristics on the suction box with a geogrid, it aims to summarize the impact of structural parameters on the grill cavity hydrodynamic characteristics, provide a reference for engineering design. The main contents include the following four points:Firstly, by means of FLUENT software and LES turbulence model, we can simulate the flow oscillation problem, which is now relatively mature study of high-type cave-in cavity, through comparing the results and conclusions of other scholars, we can select simulation model of turbulence and validate settings feasibility and reasonableness.Secondly, study how geogrid influence the flow-induced oscillation of the issue of suction box structure, we simulate the flow-induced oscillation phenomenon of suction box with and without geogrid, through comparison of pressure on suction box in these two cases by validated numerical simulation. We can find in the case with geogrid fluid moves gentle, the circumferential pressure distribution is more uniform, the pressure on the bottom of the box significantly reduced.Thirdly, study the flow-induced oscillation with different number of geogrid holes through numerical simulation analysis, compare the circumferential pressure distribution of suction box, we can analyze how the number of geogrid impact the fluid movement.Finally, study the flow-induced oscillation with different length of geogrid holes through numerical simulation analysis, compare the circumferential pressure distribution of suction box, we can analyze how the length of geogrid impact the fluid movement.
