Study On The Regional Characteristics Of University Campus Design

In recent years, with the expansion of universities and the increase of college students, the construction of university campus is in full swing and campus expansion has swept across the country. On the one hand, university campus planning and development need to rely on a city, restricted by the local history and culture, natural environment, urban style and economical development. On the other hand, the distinctive design and development of college campus play a crucial role in the beautification of city environment, inheritance of cultures and economical development of the city where a university is located.It is increasingly significant to study present campus construction status, making the campus planning,design and development better inherit regional characteristics, extend historical and cultural venation,conform to city pattern and promote economical development.In view of this, based on the basic theories and approaches of city planning and design, the thesis discusses the design ideas suitable for the construction of university campus, explore developing trends of university campus design, analyze the problems in campus planning from such four aspects as natural environment, cultural traditions, open space and sustainable development, taking the campus construction of several universities at home and abroad as a point of penetration. and hopefully, this thesis can help better tackle the problem of combining regional characteristics with the campus planning, integrating campus construction with city construction, and constructing campus features.This thesis consists 4 chapters. The chief contents are as follows:Chapter 1 elaborates the research purpose and significance, research object, research methods, and research framework, and expounds the development status of university planning at home and abroad from the perspective of history and reality.Chapter 2, based on theoretical research, analyzes the connotation of regional characteristics and the relationship between the university campus and the city where a university is located, and elaborates the related design theory of university campus and the development trend of the university campus design.Chapter 3 puts forward the strategy of integrating the university campus design with regional characteristics from the perspective of integration with the ecotope, inheritance of city culture, harmony of city pattern and promotion of city economical development.Chapter 4 is a case analysis, which takes the new and old campus of Henan University and the new campus of Zhengzhou University respectively as the practical example, summarizes the enlightenment from the new and old campus of Henan University and the new campus of Zhengzhou University, and puts forward usable design suggestions, further elaborating how to keep the city's regional culture, adapt to the natural environment, inherit the historical and cultural venation, and reflect campus spirit in designing university campus.
