However, new energy is intermittent and volatile, so it will cause bad influence about the security and stability of power grid when connecting to the grid. Facing the challenge, such as the difficulty of connecting to the grid and the low comprehensive utilization rate of the equipment, energy storage technology supports the development of new energy industry as the core technology, which plays an important role in the field of new energy power generation. Especially it has great advantage in improving grid-connected characteristics and reducing the bad impact on the grid.Once occurring over-charging and over-discharging in the battery energy storage system, the battery will be damaged, which is able to cause the reduction of the capacity and life-time, explosion or combustion. Therefore, in order to maintain good performance of the battery and make the safety of the battery, charging and discharging control and battery management are essential parts in the battery application. At the same time, when the power conversion equipment has bad performance of energy storage battery, it can also cause the danger of the battery and staff. So the power conversion equipment must be tested to ensure the energy storage system safe operation.The battery energy storage system includes the power conversion system and the battery management system. This study is focused on its related research. At first the paper describes the principle of the battery charging and discharging system, and introduces the control strategy of PCS and management function of BMS. Then the prototype of PCS is developed, which uses BUCK-BOOST topology and adopts DSP to realize the function of the software control. Finally, the detection platform of battery charging equipment is designed, in order to realize the practical performance test of PCS. The platform realizes the automatic detection of the charging equipment. The function of the detection includes electrical performance, safety performance, insulation performance, and harmonics. The detection platform can ensure safe and reliable operation of the both sides of battery and the power. |
