With the development of energy Internet strategy based on strong power grid, it puts forward higher requirements for the intelligent construction of distribution network. Which requires the distribution network to rely on advanced sensing and measurement technology, to achieve its reliable, safe, economical and efficient operation, the most important feature is the fault warning and fault recovery. But when the distribution line occurred in single phase high impedance grounding fault, due to grounding resistance, caused by the variation of voltage and current amount is very small, do not need to protection action, often unnoticeable, easily evolve into more serious phase to phase short circuit fault.In this paper, the mathematical model of single phase grounding fault is established, the change of each phase voltage, zero sequence voltage and zero sequence current are analyzed, and the simulation calculation is carried out. The results show that the transient information is easier to be identified than the steady-state information. Through the fault, transient zero sequence voltage FFT analysis can be found after the failure of the harmonic spectrum with peak mutation characteristics and according to the characteristics of defined single phase high impedance grounding fault characteristic harmonics and according to the amplitude and frequency of fault identification. Further, through the simulation calculation, prove that the characteristic harmonics and other distribution network harmonic can effectively distinguish, as if all of a sudden addition and subtraction load, two phase to ground fault, phase to phase short circuit and three-phase grounding fault. Due to the fault resistance increase caused by the fault transient process shorter, the need to improve sensitivity. Therefore, detection scheme which is based on the principle of two aspects, respectively get into the traveling wave method and characteristic harmonic method. According to the need of the traveling wave method, the simulation, design and manufacture of nanosecond high voltage pulse source.The detection principle and scheme of the single phase high resistance grounding fault overcomes the characteristics of short transient current of single phase high resistance grounding fault of distribution network and short transient process. Effectively differentiate the distribution network line switching load and other types of faults caused by interference, provides a new method for the identification of the fault, providing a theoretical basis for research of fault transient process based on, at the same time to nanosecond high voltage pulse source design manufacture to provide a new way of thinking.
