Due to the huge impact to people and whole society by the long time treatment of neck injury, more and more attentions were paid to neck whiplash injuries in recent years. At present, the neck injuries were researched mainly by dummy sled test and digital finite element simulation.Structure between dummy and real human is quite different, the real damage in real human body cannot be simulated accurately by dummy.Whether the analysis of dummy neck injury could conduct real security has become a question.Firstly, vehicle drivers' posture change on the time before vehicle collision was captured by the motion capture test of drivers, and the posture of drivers was analyzed. The study found out that on the time before collision, drivers will subconsciously backwards to avoid obstacles.resulting in the phenomenon of torso, arms.and neck straight. Then, the driver's neck muscle forces were calculated by the AnyBody software. Finally, the relation between collision damage and neck muscles was studied by comparing contrast collision damage between normal dummy and dummy with neck muscle forces.Research shows that the drivers' neck muscle force has a certain impact to head, neck and chest response of dummy.Add neck muscle forces can significantly reduce damage value. This paper explores the impact of neck muscle force on protection for driver crash safety, verify that the tense of neck muscles could play a protective role for the driver's head'and neck. The foundation was provided for.further development of more detailed finite element dummy.
