Waterborne epoxy anti-corrosion coating is the greastest water-based anti-corrosion coating in the foreign countries. But its production and use in China are still in the initial state, the utilization rate is far behind developed country due to high price of imported goods and the poor performance of domestic products. But the domestic demands for high-performance water-based anti-corrosion coating are huge, for example, shipping paint of which only 1% is waterborne and water-based epoxy coatings for car or rail vehicle mainly dependent on imports. That is to say, the development of high-performance water-based epoxy anti-corrosion coating is full of strategic significance.A variety of diamines were used to synthesize curing agent emulsion by blocking and chain extension to which monofunctional and difunctional epoxy with large molecular weight were used. Optimal synthesis process was determined by discussing the influence of temperature, reaction time, the ratio of epoxy on the preparation of curing agent emulsion. The reaction mechanism was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR). Optimal curing condition was analyzed by Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), Thermo gravimetric analyzer(TG) and the performance. Anti-corrosion paste was researched by the kind of fillings, auxiliaries and dosage. Pigment volume concentration(PVC) was determined by comparison of coating performance to obtain waterborne epoxy anti-corrosion coating formula whose performance was measured to compared with Marine paint standard.The results indicated that curing agent emulsion synthesized by alicyclic polyamine had a good stability and could be cured at room temperature. FTIR analysis showed that blocking and chain extension primarily reacted on the primary amine. Anti-corrosion paste was produced by adding micaceous iron oxide, glass flakes, aluminum tripolyphosphate, zinc powder as the main anti-corrosion filler. While the PVC was 30%, the performance of waterborne epoxy anti-corrosion coating was the greatest. An excellent water-based high-performance anti-corrosion coating which reached Marine paint standard except flexibility was fabricated.
