Yangtze river as most important inland channel in our country,having a large volume,low investment,low cost in shipping,which known as Golden Waterway.With the development of society,the strategic significance is becoming obvious that relying on the golden waterway to promote Yangtze River Economic Zone's development.However,a lot of rapids between Three Gorges Dam and Gezhouba Dam(the two Dams)hinder the development of the Yangtze River shipping.But the current rapids regulation effect based on the traditional method between two dams were difficult to complete.Therefore,a new reservoir rapids regulation methods proposed-latent pile groups to form slow flow area on navigation.Simulation technology and flume experiment are used to conduct a preliminary study on latent pile group flow characteristics and engineering applications in the paper,the main works and study results are as follows:(1)Analysis of the flow ? waterway conditions ? navigation obstruction characteristics and current rectification results,it elaborated insufficient of traditional remediation methods on reservoir rapids area.(2)Carried out with pile height,pile spacing and flow variable based latent pile group generalized flume model test,there are 39 condition groups tested,test and evaluate the values of velocity?turbulent degrees?water level along the sinks under different pile height,pile spacing,flow conditions.(3)According to the system analysising of experimental datas,clarified pile density and flow's effect to the surface velocity,central velocity in each direction,latent pile group area and wake area's turbulence degree in each direction with experiment datas;Formulas were established in wake and mainstream area between velocity reduction ratio (?),velocity increase ratio (?) and deep reduction ratio ?_b,flow rate conditions Fr,pile Sparsity ?_d;reference current correlation formula backwater,Analysed the velocity reduction ratio (?),pile Sparsity ?_d and flow's(Froude number Fr)impact on the frontier slope J of latent pile group area by using current backwater formula for reference.(4)Acoording to the fluid experimental results,a practical project-Xitan's regulation scheme between two dams is developed,Three-dimensional numerical model of the flow is used to carry out the numerical simulation of Xitan.The results show that the latent pile group has obvious regulation effect,which proved that the use of latent pile groups to reservoir area rapids remediation,to open slow flow region is feasible.
