The Research Regarding To Security Location And Design Of Non-highway Traffic Signs

As China's economic and social development has entered a new historical stage in the "12th five-year" period,the transportation industry and highway construction develop faster.At the same time,it leads greater utilization of space resources along the highway.And the requirement of setting non-highway traffic sign from Government,enterprises and businesses becomes more than ever,the current national standard "road traffic signs and markings" cannot completely satisfy this needs.Disorder setting or unreasonable layout of non-highway traffic sign not only may lead low efficiency,even may cause potential safety hazard.In order to avoid these phenomena,this paper studies and determines the non-highway traffic sign design and setting based on a large number of investigation,driver's visual characteristics method and simulation analysis.First,the paper redefines the non-highway traffic sign on the basis of the characteristics analysis of current non-highway traffic sign.then,according to this analysis and actual research,the paper classifies the non-highway traffic signs into several types and studies their relationship and distribution characteristics.Secondly,the paper analyzed the driver's visual characteristics after dividing the driver's fixation into six interest area.It obtains the probability of non-highway traffic sign affecting driver's fixation and analyses the whole visual cognition process of highway and non-highway traffic signs,then conclude their main parameters characteristics in transportation,setting and design.Finally,the paper identifies the specific requirements to security settings and design the road sign son the basis of the analysis of the above research: one is determined the parameters of non-highway traffic sign setting safely(including these three aspects below:(1)Special sections settings relying on parking stadia method,(2)Horizontal position of non-highway traffic signs relying on the survey statistics method,(3)Interval of non-highway traffic signs by the driver's visual cognition model).The other is determined the design parameters of non-highway traffic sign(including these three aspects below:(1)Font size of non-highway traffic sign has been defined by visibility theory,(2)Division of information level and font height ratio of each level have been determined by survey method,(3)Amount of information and necessary reading time at each level have been determined depending on E-Prime,(4)Color matching has been defined through the experiments with visible as a target,(5)proposed design size of non-highway traffic sign according to the conclusions of information hierarchy and font height ratio analysis above.
