In order to complete the cotton insulation production tasks in the manufacture of large commercial airliner, a new type of processing technology and equipment must been developed for sealing PEEK cotton insulation cladding layer. With the development of commercial wide-body aircraft manufacturing industry, not only an urgent is needed to study the performance of new sealing material, but also to provide a series of heat-sealing device to meet the cotton insulation processing requirements. The research of this paper has great application value.As to improve the sealing quality of the cladding layer cotton insulation, against the features of the new composite film CMS-PL-908 in aircraft, this paper carrys out the research work as the followings.(1) Using the methods to develop a set of pulsed heat sealing machine which is used for sealing cotton insulation. The methods are theoretical calculations, software simulation, test prototype development, data analysis, and so on.(2) Proposing the optimum sealing process parameters and a set of heat-sealing process methods and test specifications.(3) Proposing adaptive control methods to control the real-time temperature of heat sealing machine in the cotton insulation sealing process.(4) Proposing a set of mold design and manufacturing methods for the sealing of PEEK materials in aircraft.The research has complete the heat-sealing process methods and test specifications for PEEK materials. The test prototypes have been delivered. Temperature adjustment control method has been put into production. The temperature system has small temperature overshoot which ensures the production quality.The feedback data and test results show that the heat-sealing machine has a wide sealing temperature range, a reliable temperature control system and stable sealing quality. It has met the heat-sealing process requirements of large-size and high-temperature materials.The sealing process parameters proposed by this paper provide the basis for optimization of process parameters in Shanghai Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd, with a very important engineering application value.
