At present, there are some difficulties in using the time-history analysis method for seismic analysis of grid structures. On the one hand the time-history analysis method is more complex than that of the response spectrum method, so engineering designers tend to avoid using time-history analysis method; on the other hand, seismic wave has great influence on the calculation results of time-history analysis, and sometimes calculated results in discrete degree is too high to guide the design. Therefore, it's significant to analyze the lack of response spectrum method in grid structural, and give a method for making artificial seismic waves.From an application point of view, this paper completed the following three aspects with theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and programming.(1) It shows that the response spectrum method has the following limitations: participation mass ratio accumulats very slowly; some certain errors are existing for analyzing the grid structure. And further clarify the important position of the time-history analysis method, and make some contribution to the wide use of it.(2) Adding time-history analysis function to the space truss structure design software STADS, and using SAP2000 software to verify the reliability of the calculation results of the program.(3) Explored a method of making artificial seismic waves which is implemented in MATLAB. On the basis of the traditional trigonometric series method, the natural informations of seismic waves which is suitable for the same conditions are introduced into the phase spectrum and envelope function. It is proved that the calculation results discrete degree is decreased by using this method for time-history analysis.The according to the network structure of the space, to further clarify the time time-history analysis method plays an important role, improve the STADS space truss aided design program, proposed based on trigonometric series method of artificial seismic wave fitting method and time time-history analysis method for practical engineering application produced to promote the positive role.
