| Screening is the process of separating the material particle swarm according to different size, which is usually divided into decompaction, stratification, screen-contacting and penetration. Vibrating screen is commonly used in engineering as a screening device. Exploring a new motion to improve the ability of handling performance and screening efficiency is the relentless pursuit of goals in the process of vibrating screen development in modern society. This paper use the software called EDEM which is based on the Discrete Element Method for the numerical simulation of sieving under the new mode of motion combination of swing and translation. The paper not only have researched the relationship between the sieve parameters and screen-contacting, but also analyzed the relationship between the screening efficiency and the screen-contacting. As well as made a comparison with sieving efficiency under the diffent mode of vibration. The main research contents are as follows:1. Through parametric modeling, the new mode of combination of swing and translation on the EDEM has been achieved. Putting much effort to further study the theory of screen-contacting under the new vibration by coming up with a characteristic quantity the screen-contacting probability.2. The single factor experiment design has been made. The impacts on the screen-contacting about new type of vibration parameters(oscillation parameters and vibration parameters) and structural parameters have been systematically analyzed.3. The primary and secondary order has been discoveried by orthogonal experimental design to find, which affected the screen-contacting and screening efficiency most. Of which the vibration parameters selected five factors, four levels orthogonal table, a total of 16 times the orthogonal experiment and the screen surface structure parameter choose four factors and four levels orthogonal table, a total of nine times the orthogonal experiment.4. The relations between screen-contacting probability and screening efficiency have been discussed under the compound vibration.5. The comparison with screening efficiency between the compound vibration and the single vibration has been made under the same conditions and the conclusion is that screening efficiency has been significantly improved during the mode of compound vibration.6. The results have shown that using the discrete element method to simulate particles screening process is consistent with the results of industrial test, so the simulation results are reliable, and has research values. Therefore, studing the screening process under the mode of compound vibration with EDEM is necessary and significant.. |
