Performance Based Seismic Design(PBSD) is the trend of modern structure design, one important issue is how to determine the structural demand, espcialy nonlinear deformation. When performing nonlinear dynamic time history analysis, a lot of uncertainties are faced, among which the input of earthquake affects significantly. Sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China(NNSFC No.51278218), this thesis presents the research work focusing on the selecttion of IM in time history analysis: ground motions were devided into Far Fault set and Near Fault set, based on EpiD; Intensity Measures were evaluated and propose was given under diffenerent circumstance.1. Bilinear hysteretic based SDOF models of different periods and ductilities with damping ratio of 5% were built; four RC frames were designed based on Chinese seismic code(GB50010)and Fibre-based OpenSees models were built as MDOF system; both SDOF and MDOf models are verified.2. 32 Intensity Measures were discussed in this article, programs were coded to compute these IMs; 182 Far Fault ground motion were selected and 29 IMs(not including structural related IMs) were calculated, and correlations bettwen these 29 IMs were discussed; different adjustment methods to match real ground motion to target response spectrum were discussed.3. Using all the Far Fault ground motion set and Near Fault ground motion set as input for the dynamic analysis of SDOF system and MDOF system, seismic demands were obtained.Performing regression analysis of IM and DM in log space, Intensity Measures were evaluated on Correlation, Efficiency, Practicality and Proficiency.
