In recent years, the economy of China has been developing rapidly. The proportion of investment in infrastructure continues to increase. The construction industry shows a booming trend, which promotes the concrete-related industries. The structural performance of the boom has a decisive influence on the stability and life of the vehicle. And therefore, researching the boom has great significance to optimize the structure and improve performance of the boom.This topic is the sub-project of ” Wireless Micro-nano Sensor Systems for Heavy Machinery Safety Monitoring”, which is a 863 project. This paper studies the boom with simulation. This paper introduces the structure of the concrete pump truck briefly and the highlights structure of the boom. The development process, the current situation home and abroad and the existing problems of the boom are all made a comprehensive overview, and several future development directions of the boom are summarized.This paper uses the strong co-simulation of CAE software, combines all the advantages of all softwares to analyze boom. A 37-meter concrete pump truck boom was chosen as a model. The 3-D model of the boom was created by Solidworks. After the analysis of a variety of working conditions, the level working condition of the boom was determined to assemble. After that, the model was imported to Hypermesh to mesh. Finally the constraints and loads were added in ANSYS workbench, the creation of the finite element model of the boom was completed. Static strength simulation and modal analysis were made at first, and the results of stress and frequency vibration pattern map were analyzed. And then, with the powerful dynamics analysis function of ADAMS, the boom folded process was simulated, the motion characteristic of the boom was studied. Taking into account the influence of the elastic deformation of the boom, by generating the MNF file of the boom and replacing the existing model boom, a rigid- flexible coupling model of the boom was established. The changes of the force at the hinge point were analyzed. It has great reference value for future researches.
