Suspension is the key sub-system to decide the vehicle dynamic function with the great influence on the vibration, manipulability and safety of vehicle. There are two popular vehicles occur axle broken which absolutely draw society’s attention in 2014. And one SUV loses its steer ability with knuckle arm broken which threatens the driver’s safety. Therefore, it is a must to research and analyze a good performance suspension which holds great significance and society responsibility.This paper will take one vehicle as example to research, and the detailed task as below:Firstly, this paper analyzes the double wishbone independent suspension dynamic characteristic, calculates the variety of the key points coordinate during the vehicle’s movement by Euler’s transformation to deduce the math matrix of suspension performance. And use Matlab to program composition to simulate the math matrix by inputting the key points’ coordinate. After analyzing the simulation curves by existed experience and theory, we can find that most of suspension parameters can match requirements.Secondly, use ADAMS to build dynamic model of the front double wishbone independent suspension whose outcome is similar to Matlab. So the suspension math matrix is believed to be reasonable. Then the whole vehicle dynamic model will be built based on the front suspension dynamic model with tire and steer system, body, etc. The performance of the whole vehicle will be analyzed with activation, and the results are acceptable based on the regulations and standards.Last, the reasonable virtual design parameters will be obtained after simulation and analysis. And the major parts that endure the greater force will be analyzed by ANSYS software to get the stress and modal result. Of course, the steer knuckle, suspension coil spring and low control arm are needed. Then, the structure material will be revised by the analysis result. The hammer test will be introduced to review the modal result of ANSYS.Meanwhile, this paper has done a deep and detailed research for the dynamic, static and modal analysis of the double wishbone independent suspension with the software of Matlab, ADAMS, ANSYS and the experiment of hammer test for the first time. And a simple calculation method for root mean square of weighed acceleration is provided. This paper will absolutely contribute to the vehicle theory research, design and manufacture, also represent social responsibility greatly.
