The seismic design of high-rise buildings is the key issue in current research. Therigid foundation assumption is considered in general design method of high-risebuildings, the interaction between the soil and structure is ignored. As the research andthe disaster investigation report shown, the dynamic characteristics of the structure ischanged while considering the soil-structure interaction(SSI). The traditional designmethod is not a secure method. So it is necessary to consider the soil-structureinteraction in seismic design of high-rise buildings. Because there are many kinds ofsoil and structure, the site soil in Guangdong province and the frame structure aremainly considered in this paper. The primary contents are summarized as follow:The soil around the piles is simulated by the soil column model. The soil columnmodel is widely used in bridge seismic analysis. By referring the practice in bridgeengineering, the soil column model is applied to the seismic design of high-risebuildings. There are three main parts of the soil column model, mass, beam element,dashpot element. The horizontal shear stiffness of the soil is simulated by the beamelement and the damping of the soil is simulated by the dashpot element. The equivalentlinear shear modulus and the equivalent linear damping are calculated by the programEERA, which is developed by University of Southern California. Calculate all theparameters and build the soil column model in ABAQUS, the soil around the piles issimulated by the soil column model. Through comparing the analysis result, theinteraction between the soil and the structure can be simulated well by using the soilcolumn model.The three-dimensional analysis model is established to analyze the interactionamong the soil column model, pile foundation and frame structure interaction system. Inorder to make the structure close to the actual project, three-dimensional model is usedin all the structure model, a typical frame structure is selected as the upper structuremodel. The dynamic time history analysis method is used to study the effect on theseismic response of frame structure by considering the soil-structure interaction underthe rare earthquake. After studying the result of the simple frame and complex framestructure model, the conclusion can be made that the local seismic response of thestructure may increase by considering the soil structure interaction.A post-processing program is written for ABAQUS using the Python language. Theprogram can calculate the displacement, story drift, story shear force. The efficiency ofprocessing the data is improved by using the program.
