With the development of modern life,health and environmental protection are getting more and more important.Many experimental investigations have been carried out on the flame retardant technology and the flame retardant mechanism,and the R&D competition for flame retardants has become increasingly fierce.Flame retardants mainly present the following trends:high flame-retardant efficiency;developping high-efficiency flame retardant;better thermal stability;better compatibility;non-toxic and smoke-free after burning or pyrolysis.As an environmentally friendly flame retardant,brominated polystyrene does not produce toxic and harmful substances,and has entered the field of vision because of its excellent flame retardant properties.Brominated polystyrene?BPS?was born in the 1980s,Albemarle,a American company took the lead to commercialization.The United States Chemtura company took a different production process to prepare the same structure of brominated polystyrene products in the 1990s,but its production process was different from the former,so it was called PBS.Brominated polystyrene has entered the flame retardant market at fist,and did not arouse people's attention,the development of brominated polystyrene was relatively slowly.However,with the promulgation of the EU ROSH directive in recent years,a lot of flame retardants were restricted or banned.As environmental protection bromine flame retardant,BPS in the domestic and foreign markets caused attention increasingly.So BPS had entered a rapid development period.In recent years,the production volume of brominated polystyrene in our country had surpassed the sum of 30 years ago.However,there was a big gap between domestic brominated polystyrene products and foreign products in product quality.Domestic the product was relatively low,it hindered the application and popularization of BPS in our country.Weifang,Shandong is located in the Bohai Sea region,rich in bromine resources,where flame retardant market is vast.Therefore,we should take full advantage of brine resources,develop environmentally friendly brominated polystyrene flame retardant to meet the needs of engineering plastics,and promote the flame retardant industry toward environmental protection,low toxicity,efficient direction of great significance.In this article,we carried out experimental research,made high-quality brominated polystyrene products to realize the localization of high quality brominated polystyreneThis article optimized the process of brominated polystyrene,And MXn catalyst was added the new catalyst system.In this way,we produced brominated polystyrene products with better color and thermal stability.By TG,GPC and NMR analysis,we synthesized brominated polystyrene products with low melting color and high thermal stability,and established the better synthesis process:The control solvent moisture content was about 240ppm,and the catalyst AlCl3 was 2.5%,and MXn was added to1.5%,and brominated reagent quality ratio BrCl:Ps was 1.35:l,the time of adding and holding was 3 hours.During the addition phase,maintain a uniform temperature of10?;hold temperature of 30?.Referring to the above parameters and processes,the bromine content of brominated polystyrene products was more than 67.5%,1%mass loss temperature was 334?,5%mass loss temperature was 361?.
