| SiC3D/Al composites is a new kind of ceramic matrix composites(CMC),which have important potential applications in strike&damage field.But traditional preparation method of the composites has such a high cost and a low efficiency that need to find out an efficient one.Squeeze casting is a kind of near net shape technology and a high efficient method,which become the research point for it can reduce the production costs effectively.In this paper,the research about the standardization of the squeeze casting process parameters,the design and optimization of preparing assistive mould of squeeze casting and preparation of large size complex armor plate and its bullet-proof property.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)When composites prepared by squeeze casting technology,configuration of holes on assistive mould panel has little influence on composite density.The density of composites with all three kind of configuration of the holes can reach above 95%;while aperture of the holes decreased from 12 mm to 4 mm result to the density of composites decreased from97.2%to 73.6%,which greatly influenced.(2)When composites prepared by squeeze casting technology,the backplane of assistive mould needs to withstand the force of 4.82 KN at least so that it can meet the requirements of the protection of preform.the assistive moulds prepared by CO2 short-circuit welding and casting both can meet this strength requirements.Using the optimized assistive mould,preparation success rate would up to more than 80%.(3)When composites prepared by squeeze casting technology,preheating temperature of preform is the best parameter to balance environmental temperature changes.When the environment temperature is 25℃,the preheating temperature of preform would set as670℃.While the environment temperature increase(decrease)1℃,the preheating temperature of preform decrease(increase)2℃.This rule is applicable when the environment temperature ranged between 10℃and 40℃,which increase the success rate to more than 90%.(4)The mechanical properties of composites prepared by squeeze casting technology are slightly lower than that prepared by vacuum-pressure infiltration technology.All mechanical performance deviation ranged arround 10%.However,preparation of SiC3D/Al composites by squeezing casting with low cost,short production cycle,high production efficiency,which means a feasible preparation technology of mass production of composites.(5)The 200 mm x 200 mm large size complex plate reinforced by glass fiber/epoxy resin shows out 20.3%higher protection factor than that without complex.While the fourth projectile impact target is the weak zone of plate,the protection factor is just 17%lower than the first projectile impact,which means the large size complex plate prepared by SiC3D/Al composites has great multi-hit proof property. |
