Superabsorbent polymer is a lightly cross-linked hydrophilic polymer capable of absorbing water from tens to thousands of times its own weight.It is widely used in sanitary products,agricultural and horticultural water holding material,and various other fields.Tara gum is a kind of natural polymer materials as raw material,which is renewable,nontoxic and biodegradable.In this thesis,three antibacterial superabsorbent polymers such as HTCC-TG/AAc,Polyquaternium-7-TG/AAc and Polyquaternium-11-TG/AAc were prepared by solution polymerization from tara gum,acrylic acid(AA)as the monomer,water soluble potassium persulfate(KPS)as initiator and N,N '-methylene double acrylamide(NMBA)as crosslinking agent,using HTCC,Polyquaternium-7 and Polyquaternium-11 as antibacterial additives.The functional group of the SAP was confirmed by FTIR.The thermodynamics stabilization was analyzed by TGA.The morphology of the SAP was observed by SEM.On the basis of investigation on synthesis conditions and properties of the superabsorbents,the main results were obtained as follows:The conditions of synthesis of TG/AAc had been obtained through the single factor experiments.The initiator dosage was 0.12 g.The acrylic acid dosage was 6 m L.The neutralization percentage was 65 %.The cross-linking agent dosage was 0.016 g.The reaction temperature was 60 ? and the initiating time was 15 min.The average absorbency in the distilled water and 0.9 % NaCl solution of the SAP was 600 g/g and 55 g/g under the conditions,respectively.The tara gum-g-acrylic acid composite was confirmed by FTIR.The excellence thermodynamics stabilization was showed by TGA.The morphology of the SAP was observed by SEM.It showed that it had the connecting and porous structure.The conditions of synthesis of three antibacterial superabsorbent polymers had been obtained through the single factor experiments.The initiator dosage was 0.10 g.The crosslinking agent dosage was 0.018 g.The HTCC dosage was 0.5g.The Polyquaternium-7 dosage was 5g.And,the Polyquaternium-11 dosage was 2.5g.The absorbency in the distilled water and 0.9 % NaCl solution of three antibacterial superabsorbent polymers was more than 700 g/g and 60 g/g under the conditions,respectively.The results of FTIR showed that polyacrylic acid was successfully grafted on tara gum and the three antibacterial superabsorbent polymers had antibacterial groups.The excellence thermodynamics stabilization was showed by TGA.The morphology of three antibacterial superabsorbent polymers was observed by SEM.It shows that the three-dimensional network structure.The three polymers synthesized had high antibacterial activity.The copolymers obtained were inhibitory to the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.The properties of the SAP had been measured.As a result,compared with industrial SAP,the absorbency of the synthetical superabsorbent polymers were higer.The speed of absorbent in distilled water were high.The property of retention were good.They can absorb the artificial blood and emiction,the absorbency in the artificial blood and emiction was more than 200 g/g and 60 g/g.
