Experimental Studied On Fire Retardant Coating With Bagasse For Intumescent Steel Structure

Abstract/Summary:
The fire protection of steel structures is one of the most important safety problems for construction industry.The growth of population,the acceleration of urbanization process,the rapid development of steel structure,putting forward higher and higher requirements to the safety performance of steel.Therefore,the steel structure for fire protection is necessary,and the use of fire retardant coating is an ideal way.In this paper,based on ammonium phosphate,pentaerythritol,melamine as flame retardant system of intumescent steel structure,introduced bagasse which is cheap and extra as a formulation component.To study the fire resistance,smoke suppression performance and thermal stability of fire retardant coatings containing bagasse one important issue.The main contents are as follows:(1)A fire retardant coating containing bagasse was prepared.With the fixed quality of styrene-acrylic emulsion,pentaerythritol,melamine,ammonium polyphosphate,sodium hexametaphosphate and other raw materials as a standard formulation fire retardant coatingwith fraction of bagasse to prepare a fire retardant coating.(2)The fire resistance and smoke density of the fire retardant coating containing bagasse were tested.The fire resistance,expansion ratio,heating rate,smoke density grade and maximum smoke density were analyzed.The effects of bagasse on fire resistance and smoke suppression performance were investigated.(3)Combined with the law of building fire,the thermal stability of the bagasse and the fire retardant coating containing bagasse was studied by Thermogravimetric analysis,The thermal stability of the fire retardant coating containing bagasse was studied.The results show that the addition of bagasse can effectively enhance the fire resistance of fire retardant coating,when the quality of bagasse between 5.8% and 6.8%,the fireproof performance is acceptable.Among them,the fire retardant coating which the bagasse weight is 6.6% with fire resistance 347 minutes,and moderate and compact carbonization layer expansion.The heating rate is 0.86℃/min,with acceptable smoke density,acceptable smoke suppression performance,and between 100℃ and 400℃,in this temperature range,thermal stability is acceptable.The research results of this paper are of great significance to enhance the fire safety performance of steel structure building in the practical application of building fire protection engineering.
