With the development and the maturity of computer simulation technology,sensing technology,display technology,network parallel processing technology,virtual reality technology has further applications in plenty of fields,especially in the skills that are basic in shape setting,mature in production system,high in labor intensity,big in operation risk,high price in use and maintenance,and mastering skills which needs repeated operations.According to this,virtual reality technology has a broad application space.Virtual reality technology,which depends on its convenience,fidelity,interaction,economy and reusability,has gradually been adopted in some fields of industries,scientific research and education training,and then the research direction appears such as virtual manufacturing,virtual driving,virtual assembly and so on.Welding simulation application research conducted by virtual reality technology,it can improve the learning efficiency of the employees,reduce the learning cost and reduce the danger brought by the welding learning process.The final form of teaching and training system can become a rich learning platform for the welding trainers.The research contents of this paper include the following three aspects:(1)Including virtual simulation technology and welding technology,the research subject of this paper is downward welding of shielded metal arc welding.Firstly,the research results of welding simulation technology at home and abroad are analyzed.Secondly,the welding simulation framework based on virtual reality is formulated.On the basis of the framework,the modeling software,development software and development hardware of arc welding simulation in the development process are determined.(2)The key technologies such as moving model in virtual scene,event system,animation simulation,Shader,Perlin noise and particle effects have been researched.Event system contains UI interaction and the collision detection between models.Animation simulation uses different kinds of electrode nanipulation through DoTween.Shader includes texture materials and light show.Perlin noise is to achieve the position of molten drop during welding.Particle effects carry out the effect of hard light and fog effects during welding.(3)Base on mastered welding process of arc welding and the key technologies,thefour functional modules,such as welding introduction,welding procedure,video demonstration and manual operation are realized by means of Unity3 D and HTC VIVE.The optimization research is carried out according to the three directions of CPU,GPU and internal memory.It is batching technology to implement the optimization of CPU and decreasing the number of vertex and triangle of the models to implement the optimization of GPU.Internal storage optimization mainly uses object pool to optimize particle effects.The result of the simulation indicates that the above optimization can remarkably reduce system delay,enhance frames per second and intensify the fluency of users.
