Among biomaterials used for implants,β-type titanium alloys have attracted increasing attention due to their excellent biocompatibility,high corrosion resistance and low Young’s modulus.At present,elastic modulus of β-type titanium alloys are still higher than the elastic modulus of bone.Studies have shown that the intermetallic compound Ti3 Sn has low elastic modulus at room temperature.This paper tries to composite Ti3 Sn and β-type titanium alloys for low Young’s modulus of the alloys.In this article,through referencing the Ti-Sn binary phase diagram,three groups TiNbSn alloys are designed:(Ti87Sn13)100-xNbx,(Ti90Sn10)100-xNbx and(Ti93Sn7)100-xNbx(x=5,10,15,figures show the at%).We have prepared three groups alloys by arc melting,and the alloys get solution and aging treatment.We observe the microstructure of TiNbSn alloys by scanning electron microscope,transmission electron microscope and X-ray diffraction machine.We use the tensile testing machine to test the mechanical properts of alloys.The results show that the casted(Ti87Sn13)100-xNbx alloys are made up by β phase and Ti3 Sn phase turning to a single β phase with the contents of Nb increasing.The solution-treated alloys dissolve out a lot of Ti3 Sn,and the elastic modulus of allys go through up and down with the solution temperature increasing.The casted(Ti90Sn10)100-xNbx alloys are made up by α phase turning to β phase with the contents of Nb increasing.The solution-treated alloys dissolve out some Ti3 Sn and the elastic modulus is decreasing with the solution temperature increasing.The microstructure of the aging-treated alloys is nearly no change,but the elastic modulus is increasing with the aging treatment temperature and time increasing.The casted(Ti93Sn7)100-xNbx alloys are made up by lots of α phase and a little β phase turning to β phase with the contents of Nb increasing.The solution-treated alloys dissolve out little Ti3 Sn and the elastic modulus is higher.The microstructure of the aging-treated alloys is nearly no change,but the elastic modulus is much higher.
