According to the suspension of carrying and lithology generated by the viscosity of drilling fluid, cuttings could be in a suspension or a motion state in drilling fluid.By this action, the cuttings of the well can be removed so that to avoid the deposition of cuttings and to avoid the negative impact on the mechanical drilling speed. It is the most basic function of drilling fluid. At present, the water-based drilling fluid system is mainly to improve the ability of carrying fragments by screening the viscosity type treatment agents, and shows a lack of the improving of shearing force.Base on the present research situation, the paper analyzes the mechanism of the existing agent.A water-based drilling fluid rheology modifiers was prepared by using the compound initiation system, symbolled ZJA-1.The mechanism showed that ZJA-1 has a strong network structure, the cation worked with the clay particles, provide a perfect improving of shearing force for water-based drilling fluid together. The structure and rheological properties of ZJA-1 were characterized an evaluated by various means in this paper, and were compared with the commonly used products used as the rheology modifiers. The results show that ZJA-1 has a good performance in improving shearing force, and works better than other product;it has a good ability of improving shearing force, and has an absolute performance advantage to other products;comparing the role of ZJA-1 in drilling fluid by the systematic evaluation of rheological properties of drilling fluid system, and investigate the application of ZJA-1 in the system. The results show that ZJA-1 has a remarkable function of improving shearing force, has obvious advantages both in normal and high temperature reistance.
