The “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” has classified environmental governance as a key issue for research,and water pollution is one of the major environmental pollution problems.Therefore,optimization of the design of oil-water separators has become the emphasis of research,and the efficient and compact is the direction of development at present.However,the design and calculation method of the case of coalescence plate separator has nothing different with the original method,which is against the intention of adding the coalescence plate.The purpose of this article is to revise the irrationality of the existing design.Multiple sets of experimental data(including residence time and separation efficiency)of four authors were analyzed,whom used different experimental methods ? different experimental equipment? different mixed liquid parameters and different separator sizes(length × width × height were 1100 × 150×400 and 1200×200×300,length × diameter were 2000×400 and 2000×400(mm)respectively.According to the original separator design method,the size of the separator case is calculated,then compared with the actual size,find out the irrationality and factors that need correction in the original design method;performed numerical simulation on four different sizes of coalesced plates determined by the experiment,and calculated the residence time of oil droplets,the concentration distribution and the relationship between the amount of treatment and the separation efficiency;compared the separation efficiency of the separator before and after adding the coalescence plate;compared the simulation results with the experimental results,they are consistent with the changing trend of each parameter,indicating that the method and model used in the numerical simulation are reliable;finally,the coefficient ? and the length L in the design are corrected based on experimental data and simulation results.It showed that:?' =1.5 ?~2.3?;L'= 0.67 L~0.82 L.This means the same amount of treatment,the same oil volume fraction,it can be at least one-third smaller in diameter than the separator without the coalescing plate after adding the coalescing plate,and the length is shortened by at least 18%,as a result,the volume of the separator can be reduced by at least 36%,which can greatly reduce the volume and processing cost of the separator.By combining the theoretical research and experimental research with numerical simulation methods,it is reliably to optimize the process design of the oil-water separator of coalescence plate,which has a certain reference for the development of the separator with efficiency and compactness.
