Thermal spraying,as an important material surface treatment technology, have very widely used in anti-corrosion and wear resistance.Thermal sprayed FeAl intermetallic compound coating is a unique high-temperature structural material. It has important engineering value to study the mechanism of wear resistance and corrosion resistance.FeAlNbB coating and FeAl coating were prepared by arc spraying. With the help of scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),energy spectrometer(EDS)and other research methods, the coating microstructure morphology, phase structure, porosity were analyzed. The microhardness, friction properties of FeAlNbB coating were studied by use of friction wear machine. The electrochemical corrosion performance in 3.5%NaCl solution of coatings was tested. The results show that both FeAlNbB and FeAl coating have a remarkable layer structure with the deformed flat particles, the structure is compact and well bonded with the substrate, the porosity of FeAlNbB and FeAl coatings are 4.08% and 5.45%.The microhardness of FeAlNbB coating is about 700 HV,better than that of 20 steel or FeAl coating. After adding Nb and B into the coating, the hardness and corrosion resistance of the coating can be significantly improved. In the dry friction tests with the experimental conditions, the friction coefficients of coatings are between 0.2~0.4 and wear resistance is 6~24 times than that of FeAl coating. The wear failure of FeAlNbB coating and FeAl coating are mainly plowing effect and abrasive wear.In 3.5wt% NaCl solution,FeAlNbB coating has lower self corrosion current, corrosion rate and higher electrochemical reaction resistance. The corrosion resistance of the FeAlNbB coating is better than that of 20 steel or FeAl coating.
