Salicylaldimine Schiff base ligands are a class of N,O bidentate ligands with good coordination ability and can form more stable complexes with transition metals.Their structures are easier to modify and are widely used in fluorescence analysis reagents, pharmaceuticals and other fields. Therefore, the complexes containing salicylaldimine ligands have extremely important research significance. Here we designed and synthesised the synthesis of nineteen rhenium carbonyl complexes, and the effect of salicylaldimine ligands with different steric substituents on the structure of the complexes was discussed. The details are as follows:1Ninetrinuclearrutheniumcarbonylcomplexes[?-?2-2-OC6H4-C?H?=N-Ar)]2Ru3?CO?8[Ar=Ph?10?,4-MeC6H4?11?,4-OMeC6H4?14?,4-CF3C6H4?17?,4-ClC6H4?19?,4-BrC6H4?22?,2,6-Me2C6H3?24?,2,6-Et2C6H3?27?][?-?2-2-OC6H4-C?H?=N-C6H3-2,6-iPr2]Ru3?CO?10?28?;seven mononuclear ruthenium carbonyl complexes[?2-2-OC6H4-C?H?=N-Ar]2Ru?CO?2[Ar=4-OMeC6H4?16?,4-ClC6H4?21?,2,6-Me2C6H3?26?]?[2-OC6H4-C?H?=N-Ar][2-OC6H4-CH2N-Ar]Ru?CO?2[Ar=4-MeC6H4?13?,4-OMeC6H4?15?,4-CF3C6H4?18?,2,6-Me2C6H4?25?]and three binuclear ruthenium carbonylcomplexes{[?-?2-2-OC6H4-C?H?=N-C6H4-4-R)][?-?2-2-CH2-OC6H4][?-?-NH-C6H4-4-R]}Ru2?CO?4[R=Me?12?,Cl?20?,Br?23?]have been synthesized by nine salicylaldimine ligands containing different substituents?1-9?with Ru3?CO?12in refluxing toluene. The structures of 19 complexes were characterized by 1H NMR,13C NMR,IR and elemental analysis. The crystal structures of 16 complexes were determined by X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis.2 The catalytic activity of the synthesized trinuclear ruthenium carbonyl complexes?10?11?14?17?19?22?24?27?28?in the oxidation of alcohols was studied. The results showed that the complexes exhibited high catalytic activity and oxidized the alcohols to the corresponding ketone compounds with good catalytic selectivity.
